Can't finish your burger?

...try washing your windows with it!

Here's more from the Men's Health article I was telling you about yesterday:

Shocking Food Industry Secrets - Part 2

6. Smaller portions are equally as satisfying as larger portions.
Participants in a Penn State study ate macaroni and cheese over four different days, and when presented with bigger portions, they consumed an extra 160 calories. Despite the extra food, they rated their fullness the same.

7. Between 1977 and 1996, the average cheeseburger grew in size by 25 percent. But you don't have to give up the burgers to stay thin Just order smarter. Order the smaller burgers and have what you want on them added. And avoid the 15 Worst Burgers in America.

8. What do hamburgers and fertilizer have in common? Turns out, hamburgers—especially the stuff served at schools and fast food restaurants—are routinely treated with ammonia to kill off E. coli bacteria. That’s the same substance used in fertilizers and household cleaners. I saw this on Food, Inc, too.

9. There's a good chance chicken will make you sick. In a 2006 Consumer Reports review, more than 80 percent of whole broiler chickens bought nationwide contained campylobacter or salmonella—the leading causes of foodborne illness in America.

10. Junk food is like a drug. A study in the journal of Nature Neuroscience found that eating junk food doesn’t just satisfy cravings—it creates them. That’s right; junk food is addictive. That's why manufacturers load their foods with sugar, salt, and artificial flavorings.

Remember this:
If your food can go bad, it's good for you. If it can't go bad, it's bad for you.

Catching Up: 2010 National Convention...

... To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. - 1 Peter 4:11

Seems like its been forever since I've taken the time to update the blog so my next few posts will be a series for "Catching Up". The last month has been a journey, not just physically, but spiritually, emotionally as well.

The first of many adventures was the FirstFitness National Convention out in Dallas. Wow!!

You see, I just love road trips! When you're in the car traveling, listening to good music, seeing new things, stopping here and there along the way, there's just something about it, adding a few friends makes it even better!

We took off in my car with our dear friends and mentors, Carol and Bob Brown. We left on Wednesday evening and stopped in Biloxi for the night where we met more friends and great leaders, Charles and Diane Miller. We got there really late, so it was straight to bed. We stayed semi-complimentary at the Island View Resort and it was very luxurious! Slept great and had a complimentary breakfast that was uh-mazing- many thanks to our friends!

Thursday we had a deadline, the convention kick-off party started at 7:00 pm. It was smooth sailing until we hit Downtown Dallas at 5:00 pm! Whoa, what a mess! Just imagine Jason and Bob in the front seat, Bob tinkering with the GPS... need I say more? ;) Carol saved the day with her DROID GPS in the backseat, finding us an alternate route! We made it, but got to the party just a few minutes late!

New celebrity endorsers were announced! Including
Jay & Lin Johnson, the Official trainers of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and owners of Jay's Boot Camp,

one of Jason's all-time favorite football players Everson Walls

and Hall of Famer, Mel Renfro!!

Staci Wallace was also introduced as a new member of the FirstFitness corporate team! I was excited about this because I have been following Staci's blog for a few months already and had been inspired by her actions in her "Naked In Chicago Airport!" post. I was thrilled to be able to meet her and have her share this story in person with my husband and friends after the party.

Friday we had training from our Medical and Nutritional Advisory Board and our new Body Renewal System was launched!

Friday night, we went on a tour of the Corporate Office and were treated to a private Wild West party at Circle R Ranch! There was Texas style barbecue, a band, dancing instructions ...It was so much fun and great night out for Jason and me! Something we don't get to do much of at home.

Saturday we were blessed with a closing presentation by Staci and that's where the "magic" happened! I can't describe it fully here but if you can imagine a business meeting turning into a revival, that's how I would describe it best! This is where the "All In" campaign was born! It was amazing to witness our company being "baptized" and I truly believe the Holy Spirit showed up in that room!!

All of this excitement was followed-up by the awards banquet. We got all gussied up and had a wonderful dinner celebrating Lee and Anita Causey's 50th wedding anniversary.

Jason and I were one of three honored with the Spirit Award. To me it is the best award given next to the Victory award because it is based on nominations by your peers...

Sunday morning we began our journey home, but the fun wasn't over yet! We stopped in Shreveport along the way to meet one of our rising stars, Mike Mikovich. We were truly blessed to be able to meet him in person and have lunch at Newk's! Mmm... highly recommended!!
Of course we had to make one more stop before leaving Shreveport...

that's right, Bass Pro!! We finally made it home on Monday after another comfy stay at the Island View Resort in Biloxi!!
