Entertaining angels...

...unaware

Don't you just love a lazy Sunday afternoon? That's exactly what Jason and I had planned for today. We planned it all out as we were getting ready for church this morning. We were going to church, grab a bite to eat on the way home and then a nap, a real nap, in our bed, not just the typical Sunday afternoon lounging and dozing in the living room.

Ahhh... I could barely wait! The fun and excitement of the 12 hour social media boot camp I conducted yesterday wore me out!

We entered the church service and found our seats, me in the third row and Jason in the choir, typical Sunday morning. There were a few folks from nearby neighborhoods who I was especially excited to see. Someday I'll share more about them, but just know that I am witnessing the power of God's love through our church in the lives of some very special people.

As the offering is about to be taken up, I hear a familiar but unexpected sound come from the choir. Did he really just do that? Did my husband just whistle as if calling the dog to get my attention during the offering? Yes, as a matter of fact, that short "ssssrrrrit" was my husband calling. As I looked up from my purse, he was waiving the offering envelope at me. Seriously, I'm not joking. It was shortly after this that our afternoon plans were changed.

Just after the whistling incident, my husband started talking to the pastor's husband and then the pastor, (yes, during the service, as the offering was being collected and yes, I said pastor's husband). If you know Jason, you know this is somewhat out of character for him. Oh wait, here he comes, down out of the choir and starts talking to me.

You see, a stranger on the back pew had caught his attention as he got up and walked out of the church. For whatever reason, my sweet husband who usually keeps to himself, and is very well mannered in church was moved to follow the man out of church during the offering.

Turns out, he came to church on his bicycle in order to "keep his word". He's just passing through with no place to be, but needs a few bucks and a place to stay. Jason and I were blessed to be able to give him ride to the next town over and put him up in a motel for the night. Our lazy Sunday afternoon plans changed by a rambling stranger, but all the while all I could think of was Hebrews 13:2 which I had heard David Jeremiah talk about early in the week on my way to work:

"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."

Catching Up: 2010 National Convention...

... To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. - 1 Peter 4:11

Seems like its been forever since I've taken the time to update the blog so my next few posts will be a series for "Catching Up". The last month has been a journey, not just physically, but spiritually, emotionally as well.

The first of many adventures was the FirstFitness National Convention out in Dallas. Wow!!

You see, I just love road trips! When you're in the car traveling, listening to good music, seeing new things, stopping here and there along the way, there's just something about it, adding a few friends makes it even better!

We took off in my car with our dear friends and mentors, Carol and Bob Brown. We left on Wednesday evening and stopped in Biloxi for the night where we met more friends and great leaders, Charles and Diane Miller. We got there really late, so it was straight to bed. We stayed semi-complimentary at the Island View Resort and it was very luxurious! Slept great and had a complimentary breakfast that was uh-mazing- many thanks to our friends!

Thursday we had a deadline, the convention kick-off party started at 7:00 pm. It was smooth sailing until we hit Downtown Dallas at 5:00 pm! Whoa, what a mess! Just imagine Jason and Bob in the front seat, Bob tinkering with the GPS... need I say more? ;) Carol saved the day with her DROID GPS in the backseat, finding us an alternate route! We made it, but got to the party just a few minutes late!

New celebrity endorsers were announced! Including
Jay & Lin Johnson, the Official trainers of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and owners of Jay's Boot Camp,

one of Jason's all-time favorite football players Everson Walls

and Hall of Famer, Mel Renfro!!

Staci Wallace was also introduced as a new member of the FirstFitness corporate team! I was excited about this because I have been following Staci's blog for a few months already and had been inspired by her actions in her "Naked In Chicago Airport!" post. I was thrilled to be able to meet her and have her share this story in person with my husband and friends after the party.

Friday we had training from our Medical and Nutritional Advisory Board and our new Body Renewal System was launched!

Friday night, we went on a tour of the Corporate Office and were treated to a private Wild West party at Circle R Ranch! There was Texas style barbecue, a band, dancing instructions ...It was so much fun and great night out for Jason and me! Something we don't get to do much of at home.

Saturday we were blessed with a closing presentation by Staci and that's where the "magic" happened! I can't describe it fully here but if you can imagine a business meeting turning into a revival, that's how I would describe it best! This is where the "All In" campaign was born! It was amazing to witness our company being "baptized" and I truly believe the Holy Spirit showed up in that room!!

All of this excitement was followed-up by the awards banquet. We got all gussied up and had a wonderful dinner celebrating Lee and Anita Causey's 50th wedding anniversary.

Jason and I were one of three honored with the Spirit Award. To me it is the best award given next to the Victory award because it is based on nominations by your peers...

Sunday morning we began our journey home, but the fun wasn't over yet! We stopped in Shreveport along the way to meet one of our rising stars, Mike Mikovich. We were truly blessed to be able to meet him in person and have lunch at Newk's! Mmm... highly recommended!!
Of course we had to make one more stop before leaving Shreveport...

that's right, Bass Pro!! We finally made it home on Monday after another comfy stay at the Island View Resort in Biloxi!!
